Founded in the early summer of 2009, Troop 2054 has grown from 16 scouts, to over 52 registered Boy Scouts. The Troop was established to teach youth good values and life skills.
Located in Richardson, Texas, Troop 2054 is chartered by the Muslim American Society. Commonly referred to as MAS. The youth center has supported the Troop since its founding and through the transition to a larger facility. Following the Scout Law, Troop 2054 takes the "Reverence" with passion while carrying on normal scouting activities. Learning and applying Islamic traditions and teachings is a vital part of the Troop's ongoing effort to make the boys develop into greater young men. Although the troop is chartered by a Muslim organization, Troop 2054 is committed to accepting those of other faiths both in and out of scouting activities.
Troop 2054 applies the BSA slogan of "Do a good turn daily" in regular scouting activities to encourage service. The Troop takes part in numerous service projects and community events, emphasizing the importance of giving back and being a friendly Scout. The Troop participates in the annual MLK parade in Dallas by representing the Boy Scouts of America and the Muslim American Society. Flag ceremonies are an example of what local organizations seek from the Troop. The Troop also participated for the first time in the City of Irving 4th of July parade by marching and celebrating the nation's independence. The Troop also collects food every year for the Scouting For Food event to help the poor and needy locally. We teach the boys to be thankful for what they have and to always help others.
